Native american cinema is a body of film production originating from or centrally concerning Indigenous peoples of North America, and a corresponding field of academic inquiry. As a research concept, it investigates the historical, cultural, and political dimensions of these films, analyzing their production, aesthetics, distribution, and reception, often focusing on issues of representation, sovereignty, and cultural self-determination within and against dominant cinematic traditions.
